Pastels & Poetry

Apple Blossom Cotillion - Pastel

Plein air & studio painting for me

Has been a pleasant rediscovery

Of poems by Grandma, known as Emma D.

So it begins – paintings and poetry.

“Singing Words” by Emma D. Babcock

A poet needs a quiet time

To find the words that sing;

The artist needs some quiet hours

To paint the rainbow tints of spring.

The one may sing, the other paint,

Then learn to blend their works of art,

While beauty guides the painter’s brush,

The poet’s song must reach the heart.
